Cedar Grove: Highway 180 to Cedar Grove will not open for the 2023 summer season.Mineral King: No public access for the 2023 season.The following areas are closed due to impacts from winter storms:.Avoid swimming, and be especially careful near the water's edge. Park rivers are running fast and cold due to a heavy winter snowpack.In park wilderness, expect difficult conditions at higher elevations.Construction may also cause delays along 180 throughout the Grant Grove area. Most parking at Grant Grove Visitor Center and Big Stump Picnic Area is unavailable. ![]() There is an ongoing repaving project taking place in the Grant Grove area.Park shuttle service is temporarily suspended until further notice due to a work stoppage affecting the park shuttle service operator.If you plan to visit the General Sherman Tree, General Grant Tree, Moro Rock, or other popular features, try to get there outside the peak hours of 10:00 am - 3:00 pm. Expect busy conditions in the Giant Forest and in Grant Grove. The Generals Highway is now open from both park entrances.Access to this trail is about a 20-minute drive from the entrance to Kings Canyon. This is a half-mile, paved, loop trail among some of the largest trees in the world. The General Grant Tree Trail is open in Kings Canyon National Park. ![]()
